ABOUT US
Monica Boulis
Registered Psychotherapist
At TMA Psychotherapy, we specialize in Trauma, Mood disorders, and Anxiety. We believe in therapy as a journey to Talk, Manifest self-awareness, and Achieve meaningful change.
Education & Training
Monica holds dual MSc degrees in Psychotherapy (McMaster University) and Psychology (Université de Montréal). She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and provides culturally responsive individual therapy for adults — with a specialized focus on complex trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and acquired brain injury in trauma survivors.
Monica received advanced clinical training through hospital and inpatient programs, including Homewood Health, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Her integrative therapeutic approach includes CPT, EMDR, CBT, IPT, and MBCT. All within an attachment-based and sociocultural lens.
Therapeutic Philosophy
Monica’s background as a Rehabilitation Support Worker for traumatic brain injury recovery deeply informs her values. She supported trauma survivors, refugees, veterans, first responders, and marginalized communities across hospital, community, and in-home settings. This experience reaffirmed her belief in meeting clients where they are — physically, emotionally, and culturally.
She empowers clients to Talk openly and reclaim their narratives, build on and Manifest their strengths, and create meaningful paths to Achieve recovery rooted in their cultural identities and community supports.
Research & Contributions
Monica remains active in research through her published work and as a peer reviewer for journals (NCACN & JIRIRI). If you’d like to explore her published work on anxiety, click here, and on attachment theory, click here.
